Wyoming Coffee Shops Dissapoints – THAT’S NOT COFFEE
Recently a new drive-through coffee shop opened up in my Wyoming town.
I have to hand it to the architect, this place looks nice. It's not a typical box design. Their little building really stands out as one of the more interesting features in our town.
So, what the heck, I'll give them a try.
I knew I was in trouble when I pulled up to see a brightly colored menu on a big screen showing me fancy, foamy latte-style drinks in a host of different colors that reminded me of a kid's ice cream menu.
None of that is coffee. Those are more like foamy milk shakes with a shot of espresso.
Thinking that I was judging I pulled up and a nice young lady stepped out with an iPad to take my order.
Just a small coffee, I said. Black.
How often does she get a request like that in a place like this?

She seemed a little confused and began asking me what I wanted in that.
Just coffee, I repeated.
I handed her my debit card and she tapped it on her iPad. Gone are the days of old-style registers.
Including tax, this was a $3.00 purchase.
She held the iPad out, waiting for me to select a tip option. The lowest tip option was $1.00 which would have made it at least a $4.00 purchase. I could also select NO TIP, but there she is staring at me.
In a moment a young man came out of the little shop with a small cup.
I drove away with the hole in the lid popped open so it could cool down. A little way down the road I took a sip.
WEAK and FLAVORLESS!
The next chance I had to pull over I opened the lid and looked inside.
If you can see to the bottom of the cup, it's not coffee, it's TEA!
Where can a guy go just to get a good cup of coffee today?
There are a few places, believe it or not.
As for this new shop, HONESTLY, I do wish them success.
There are a lot of people out there who love those foamy latte-style drinks so I'm sure they will be really popular.
But can we stop calling those things coffee?
That's not what a coffee is.
