Thankfully, we have had a rather quiet fire season, so far, here in Wyoming.

Major fires did not get started until the middle of August.

There are not many fires burning now. Most of them are small.

Here are the highlights.

NOTE: Containment does not mean that the fire is out.

Back to the big one, the Red Canyon Fire:

Evening Operations Update:

Today’s operations progressed as expected. In Divs. C and G, no heat was detected and firefighters continued patrolling and monitoring.

The same was true in Divs. O and N, where crews found no heat. In Div. M, structures near DP 38 and DP 50 were checked with no heat located.

Div. H remained in patrol status, though some heat was discovered in dozer berms, which will be a key area of focus for mop-up tomorrow.

On suppression repair, the north side is now complete around Wildhorse Butte, and crews are working south along Kirby Creek Road.

From the south side, dozers are being pushed up toward Kirby Creek Road to tie in efforts from both directions.

No aircraft flew the fire today, and there are no planned night operations.

These types of firelines are being returned to a more natural state with suppression repair operations.
