Last weekend, I took a road trip from Cheyenne all the way up to the top of Wyoming on Interstate 25 (I-25). WOW, there was a lot of construction. Nothing horrible, but I was slowed down several times for bridges being replaced and even entire sections of highway being torn up for replacement.

Here is what I encountered.

Major I-25 construction projects span across Wyoming, with significant active work zones in Casper, near Chugwater, and extending into the Kaycee and Wheatland areas. Motorists should anticipate single-lane shifts, reduced speed limits, and 14-foot width restrictions in these specific work areas. (WYDOT).

Casper (MP 187-189): A major reconstruction project is underway between the Walsh Drive overpass and Center Street. Traffic is reduced to one lane in both directions with a speed limit of 45 mph, affecting the McKinley Street bridges. This project runs through 2028.

Chugwater Area (MP 50-70): Multiple bridge replacements and grading projects are actively ongoing between mileposts 50 and 70. Traffic is head-to-head with speed reductions, and drivers should expect ongoing delays.

Wheatland to Douglas (MP 113-120): Crack-and-seat work and an asphalt overlay are occurring in the northbound lane, reducing speeds and causing delays.

Kaycee (MP 244-253): Bridge rehabilitation and milling are reducing the interstate to one lane in both directions, with the speed limit capped at 65 mph.

Cheyenne (I-25 & I-80 Interchange): A $500 million redesign is officially in the design and planning phases to modernize the outdated cloverleaf layout, though major disruptive construction is not expected to peak until the early 2030s.

Honestly, despite all of the construction, I only experienced some slowdowns. It was a beautiful trip.

Jay Em, Wyoming, Frozen In Time

Jay Em, what an unusual name for a town. The few people who live there are proud of what their spot on earth once was, and they work to preserve it. They keep this little community frozen in time.

Exploring The Lost Town Of Yoder Wyoming

Between Cheyenne and Torrington, but mostly closer to Torrington, and just off of Highway 85, is, or was, the tiny town of Yoder, Wyoming. For such a forgotten place, you would be surprised at how well-kept it is. Population 133.
