Yes, significant portions of Interstate 80 are closed or restricted in Wyoming due to a major spring storm bringing heavy wet snow and severe, gusting crosswinds.
Western Wyoming: The westbound lanes between Airport/Baxter Roads and Point of Rocks are closed due to winter conditions.
Segments between Rock Springs and Point of Rocks are closed to all high-profile vehicles (under 20,000 GVW) due to dangerous extreme blow-over risks and gusting winds.
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for areas extending from Wamsutter east through Rawlins, Elk Mountain, and the I-80 Summit between Cheyenne and Laramie. This area is expecting heavy accumulating snow and 50+ mph crosswinds that can drop visibility to near zero, which may trigger full closures along these stretches.
