Wyoming Is Getting A Buc-ees – APRIL FOOLS!
THIS WAS AN APRIL FOOLS JOKE! DO NOT BELIEVE IT!
Recently, I drove about 45 minutes from Cheyenne, Wyoming, down into Colorado, just to see the popular Buc-ees gas station and store down there.
Billboards for Buc-ees have popped up all over Wyoming, so the drive was taken out of curiosity.
While there, I wondered why Wyoming didn't have one of these. It would be perfect along Interstate 80. That highway is one of the busiest in the nation.
REJOICE WYOMING!
Buc-ee’s will be coming to Wyoming soon with their new location in...
Why there?
BECAUSE IT'S AN APRIL FOOLS JOKE BY COUNTY 10!
Hudson is a very small town just to the northeast of Lander and southwest of Riverton, along Highway 789.
That road does get a lot of traffic.
The little town of Hudson sure can use some employment opportunities.
A Buc-ees employs a lot of people. I hope there are enough around to fill all of those jobs.
But, hey, these big companies know what they are doing better than I do.
We can expect the new store to be open by February 29, 2027.
The Texas chain, which now also operates in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Kentucky, expanded to Colorado.
Buc-ee’s CEO Alan Smithee said that Wyoming has been on the company’s radar for a while.
He chose Hudson after attending a van-life festival there in 2022.
“I know that Riverton is referred to as the Rendezvous City, and that Lander is “where the rails end and the trails begin,” so Hudson just seemed like the perfect nexus of these two communities for us to open a store,” Smithee shared with County 10.
“The Wyoming Department of Transportation confirmed that Hudson has anywhere between 12,300 and 46,700 drivers pass through each day, and we figured why not make this little town a place to stop rather than drive through,” Smithee added.
Hudson has a population of 435.
The average Buc-ees employs 250 people.
There are sure to be people coming from Lander and Rawlins to apply.
Will the Wyoming Buc-ees be open 24 hours like the rest of them around the nation?
NO, they will not be - BECAUSE IT'S AN APRIL FOOLS JOKE BY COUNTY 10!
The little town of Hudson is home to one of the most famous steakhouses in Wyoming.
Sounds quaint, doesn't it?
While eating at their famous steak house, I had to ask, 'What's that place across the street with the skulls and the skeleton up top?' The word "ROOMS" was written across the top.
The waiter laughed and became a little embarrassed.
"It used to be a brothel."
I asked what it was before, or after, it was a brothel.
"No," he said, "it was always a brothel. It was finally shut down in the 1930s. Not one business has opened there since."
He went on to explain that the place once had a terrace with steps leading up to it. But the road was recently widened and so all of that needed to be taken down.
I could not find anyone who knew why the place was decorated for Halloween.
Maybe somebody tried to start some other tourism business here. But I'm just guessing about that.
Still, this stuff makes me want to have a look inside.
There was a time when the little town of Hudson was a busy place visited by famous travelers.
Now there only seem to be a couple of places open for business.
The only activity is Svilar's Bar and Steak House.
That's a famous steak house that almost went out of business during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Let's just say, for the fun of it, that the creepy place in Hudson, Wyoming, which used to be a brothel, was reopened. This time without the skeleton and skulls.
Would you stay there?
I'm thinking it's actually haunted. Honestly, I'm hoping it is.
