Wyoming Law Enforcement Memorial Board President Don Heiduck, and Vice Presidents Tina Trimble and Jon Briggs, recently joined Glenn on Wake Up Wyoming to inform the state-wide community about the ongoing project for fallen Wyoming Peace Officers.

From the memorial page's Facebook:

The Wyoming Law Enforcement Memorial was initiated in 2011 by a combined effort of several Cheyenne area law enforcement agencies including the security forces at FE Warren AFB. A charity Board of Directors was organized to raise funds towards the design and production of a bronze sculpture that will honor all Wyoming Fallen Peace Officers. It is being created by an artist with ties to Wyoming and will be honorably placed on or near the Wyoming State Capitol grounds in Cheyenne.

The project has been several years in the making and now is in the final stages - primarily, seeking funding. Property for the memorial has been secured in Cheyenne where the Capitol building, population density, and tourism allow the greatest coverage for respects to be paid. The total project cost is estimated at $250K, entirely from grants and donations, and no additional maintenance fees are expected as care for the memorial will be provided by the State.

Even after the unveiling and dedication of this commemorative statue, it’s been proposed that the charity continue for perpetuity. The funds would be in place to assist the spouses and families of Wyoming’s fallen officers who have given the ultimate sacrifice. Over 60 Wyoming Peace Officers have been lost in the line of duty… but none will be forgotten.

Miniature versions of the bronze memorial are on display at the Wyoming Bank and Trust in Cheyenne, with plans to display a second maquette at the State Museum, also in Cheyenne.

As the project continues, we at Wake Up Wyoming plan to keep you updated with developments.
