A 49-year-old Farson man is facing several counts of tax evasion and failure to file federal income tax returns, according to a news release from the acting U.S. Attorney for Wyoming, L. Robert Murray.

According to the release, Sean Thomas filed a Form W-4 falsely claiming withholding allowances between June of 2014 and at least 2018. That caused his employer to not withhold any federal income taxes from Thomas's wages. Thomas then allegedly failed to income tax returns for each of those years.

Each count of tax evasion carries a potential penalty of up to five years in prison, up to three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. Each count of failure to file a return carries a potential penalty of up to one year in prison, a year of supervised release, and a fine of $100,000.

Thomas is scheduled to face an arraignment before U.S. Magistrate Judge Kelly Rankin in Cheyenne on April 8.
