Wyoming's licence plates have always looked like a rodeo plate, with the bucking horse and rider. That horse, some think, is the famous Steamboat from around the Chugwater, Wyoming area.

But now Wyoming has an official rodeo licence plate. Click here for more information on how to get one from the state.

Wyoming's new Rodeo specialty license plate, available from January 1, 2026, celebrates the state's heritage with a bucking bronco silhouette, featuring "The Official Sport of Wyoming," available for non-commercial vehicles with a $30 fee and optional donations to college rodeo programs, with low-number plates auctioned to support these programs.

This plate offers drivers a way to show support for Wyoming's Western culture and collegiate rodeo teams, complementing the classic bucking horse symbol found on standard plates.

Design: Features a cowboy riding a bucking bronco (Steamboat), honoring rodeo as Wyoming's official sport.

Availability: For non-commercial vehicles (cars, trucks, motorcycles, off-road vehicles).

Donations: An optional $20+ donation supports the University of Wyoming and community college rodeo programs.
