Wyoming Summer Officially Begins THURSDAY!
WAIT... I thought it was already summer.
Felt like it for a while.
Then a couple of days of cool temperatures out west reminded us that it was still spring.
Summer in Wyoming officially begins on Thursday, June 20th.
The first day of Summer in Wyoming is forecasted to have temperatures in the 70s.
The Summer Solstice officially hits us at 2:50 pm on Thursday.
How did you do with getting that summer beach body ready?
Me too- maybe next year.
Summer will end on September 22nd.
Long-term forecasts are hard, but let's look at what we know from past trends.
The long -term forecast for Wyoming shows a few hot days, as to be expected.
Maybe a scorcher or two when those inevitable high-pressure systems park over our region.
But cool fronts keep pushing down from the north, giving us occasional temperature drops.
Regional Weatherman Don Day's forecast is below.
Those will not be huge drops in temperature, but they'll be enough to get us out of the 90s and into the 80s for a few days.
Those hit-and-miss afternoon thunderstorms will be common as moisture moves up from the Gulf Of Mexico and, occasionally, the Pacific.
Wyoming and the region will enter summer almost drought-free.
Most of the snow for the middle and eastern parts of Wyoming came at us this spring, which will provide a good amount of water for this summer.
There are a few dry areas that will probably get worse this summer as we switch from La Nina to El Nino, which is that Pacific Ocean heating pattern that is mostly controlled by cycles of the sun. La Nina to El Nino greatly affects Westen weather.
So we can call this summer's forecast, "AVERAGE!"
There is nothing in the current trends that show anything above or below recorded averages over the years that humans have been keeping records.
