The mega-store chain Bed Bath and Beyond is closing 150 stores and laying off 20% of its staff, nationwide.

The retail giant is in trouble and will begin by closing 37 stores across the US before the end of February. Liquidation sales have already begun at those locations.

200 "redundant" will be shut down stores over the following two years as part of its turnaround effort after several years of sliding sales.

Wyoming has 2 Bed Bath And Beyond Stores.

Both of these locations have been spared, so far.

One location is at the East Ridge Mall in Casper Wyoming.

The other is in the Frontier Mall in Cheyenne.

So far neither Wyoming location is on the chopping block.

SO FAR!

That's not to say that those Wyoming stores will not make the 200 listed. It's not known yet. Pulling the trigger will take a couple of years.

The company once provided loyal shoppers with 20%-off coupons.

They have tried revamping its merchandise in recent years to focus on private-label products including its Our Table brand cookware.

That did not work so they are dripping 3 of its private label brands, and reprioritizing national brands with labels including Calphalon, Ugg, Dyson, and Cuisinart.

The company has about 32,000 employees.

There are many reasons that the retail giant is struggling.

New competitors are one of them.

Inflation is another problem. The store was a bit on the pricy side to begin with. Right now people have less money and prices keep going up. That's not good for a high end store. People who have less money are looking for bargains.
