Wyoming’s Famous Beartooth Highway Opens A Little Early
One of the most beautiful drives in Wyoming (HECK, ON EARTH) is open just a little bit early.
The Wyoming Department of Transportation is set to open US 14A by noon on Friday, May 17.
The area received low snowfall this past winter.
That's okay, some winters bring more snow than others.
That allowed crews to get in and clear the road ahead of schedule.
WYDOT typically opens US 14A on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend.
US 14A is a 22-mile stretch of some of the most scenic mountain drives in the Bighorn Mountains of north-central Wyoming.
WYDOT is asking anyone who wants to explore the drive to stay on the road and not venture into uncleared areas.
They might have cleared the highway, but there is still a lot of work up there that needs to be done.
This will be a perfect drive for your Memorial Day weekend.
There is nothing but WOW no matter which way you look.
The video below will give you a feel for what you'll see.
Check out my favorite drive in the USA in this short 7-minute documentary. Beartooth highway, or highway 212, is a wilderness area between Wyoming and Montana that offers some of the most fun driving in all of the United States.
This 70-mile road crest over Beartooth pass and offers stunning views, hairpin driving turns, and a feeling of adventure you can’t get on any road east of the Mississippi. (Alexyn Photo & Video).
The Beartooth Highway is an All-American Road in the western United States on a section of U.S. Route 212 in Montana and Wyoming between Red Lodge and the Northeast entrance of Yellowstone National Park.
