Wyoming’s Weekend Smoke Forecast 10/4 – 10/06
It's all about wind direction, isn't it?
For most of this weekend, Wyoming's winds will push our smoke toward Montana.
Sorry Montana.
Even the stronger winds that we will see on Friday and Saturday will actually help us clear the air.
UNTIL SUNDAY!
Sorry about Sunday.
If the forecast holds - Sunday's winds will be almost calm most of the day.
That means that any smoke in the area will just sit and gather where it is.
Morning cool temperatures will push that smoke toward the ground.
Warmer temperatures in the afternoon will help lift it to a fine haze.
The worst areas for that smoke are still on the western side of the state, coming from around Duboise.
The eastern side of Wyoming will have to deal with the Elk Fire smoke that is coming from above Sheridan, on the east side of the Bighorn Mountains.
Those two big smoke-producing fires are still driving most of the smoke in Wyoming.
It's coming from Togwotee Pass, on the western side of the state, and in the northern part of the Bighorn Mountains.
