New Roadside Vent Shocks Yellowstone Tour Guide
Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming never stays the same.
No matter if we are talking about its climate or its geology. Usually, the two are intertwined.
Those who have worked in Yellowstone for a number of years will tell you they never know what they are going to see next.
In the video below, you'll see something new and hear a tour guide of 6 years express surprise to her passengers.
There it is, a new thermal, right along the side of the road.
That might make you wonder what would happen if it came up under the road.
There was also a new thermal pool, roughly 13 feet across and filled with light blue water, that was discovered in the Porcelain Basin area of Norris Geyser Basin. It likely formed from a series of mild hydrothermal explosions between late December 2024 and early February 2025.
A new volcanic vent was discovered in August 2024, marked by a steam plume. According to Sustainability Times, it was found by chance when a scientist noticed an unusual steam plume.
Let's not forget the big BADABOOM that erupted near a thermal pool and vent a year ago. That explosion demolished a boardwalk. Thankfully, nobody was hurt.
You can watch the video below if you have not seen that event.
There have also been some changes in thermal activity near Old Faithful, including Oram Geyser erupting for the first time in two years and increased activity at Beehive Geyser, according to a Yellowstone Monthly update.
These changes are attributed to the dynamic nature of Yellowstone's hydrothermal system, not to magma movement.
