Yellowstone Bus Used In Movies Is Back At Yellowstone

The other night, I was rewatching the movie Big Trouble in Little China when I saw something that made me think of Yellowstone. It turns out that what I saw is now back in Yellowstone.

There was a yellow tour bus in the movie. It was the same kind of tour bus once used in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. Was that where this bus was from? YES, it was, and it's back in Yellowstone now.

Known as the "Hollywood" bus, it was one of several originally built for the park and is still used today for sightseeing tours, passing through areas like Hayden Valley and the Old Faithful region.

The yellow bus in Big Trouble in Little China (1986) is the tour bus driven by the sorcerer and tour guide, Egg Shen (played by Victor Wong).

The vehicle is a vintage 1936 White Model 706 touring car, which was famously used for sightseeing tours in Yellowstone National Park.

The specific bus used in the film is named "Hollywood." It was part of a fleet of White Motor Co. vehicles purchased by Yellowstone National Park in the 1920s-30s and was later purchased for use in the film before being returned to service for tours in Alaska/Canada, according to some reports.

Currently, the bus is part of the park's functional fleet of vintage buses, regularly carrying visitors.
