A lot of us in Wyoming hated seeing Big Lots stores close down nationwide.

Those shoppers will be happy to hear that Big Lots will reopen nine stores across six states this month.

There are no Wyoming locations on that list - YET!

Variety Wholesalers plans to open more Big Lots stores through June.

The company will reopen Big Lots locations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and West Virginia, among other states.

So what do they mean by: "among other states?"

It means: more news to come.

So we don't know about Wyoming locations yet.

Big Lots locations in Wyoming still have their names on their buildings, and the stores look ready to bring stock and reopen.

So now we wait to see if it happens here.

Big Lots filed for bankruptcy.

Variety Wholesalers which acquired 219 stores through the bankruptcy process.

Nine stores that are slated to open soon are in Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.

“We're thrilled to bring the Big Lots brand back to life by offering more deals than ever, lots of famous brands, and a new apparel department for the entire family,” said Lisa Seigies, president and CEO of Variety Wholesalers.

Stores that do reopen will not look as nice as you might want - at first.

“Each week, we’ll add more new products as we build toward the grand opening celebration in the fall,” she said.

Big Lots left their stores in a ready-to-go state for anyone who might want to come in and pick up what was left of the chain.

The buyout will help Big Lots pay off its debts.

A Little Wyoming School House Preserved In Time

The little hamlet of Slater Wyoming has preserved on of their last two remaining buildings with all the love they feel for it.

There was once a tiny town on this spot.

Most everything is gone except the schoolhouse and the community building.

I stopped by one Saturday morning and the locals were more than happy to let us in to have a look.
