Bret Michaels’ Hometown Heroes Tour Honors Casper Firefighter
Bret Michaels is coming to the Casper Event Center on November 6th to kick off his multi-city Hometown Heros Tour.
Part of the purpose of this tour is to take time to honor heroes in every city where Bret Michaels performs. The lineup for the event includes artists from several genres and will be a night to remember for not only the crowd but for five community members that have been nominated by friends and/or family. Here is what Bret Michaels said about the experience.
While on tour, every night I bring local heroes up on-stage to honor them during the show and we’ll continue to do so at these shows. It’s important to me that we recognize veterans, first responders, teachers and people who are making a difference in their communities.
Austin Burgess was nominated by his sister in law Dorie. This is what she had to say,
Knowing him has allowed me to see what first responders deal with on a day to day basis. They go out and serve our community in what can be extremely high-stress life or death situations. Then they have to turn it all off and be there for their family, which Austin is great at.
Austin Burgess is a second-generation firefighter who was born and raised in Casper, Wyoming. He has served 13 years as a firefighter, and 10 of those have been for the Casper Fire Department.
Take a minute to listen to our interview with Austin and Dorie.
I loved how Austin explained why he is so dedicated to his job, "I like to help people. Being out there in the community and being able to solve people's problems is a big part of our job...I enjoy it."
A big thank you to Austin and all of our community's other firefighters and first responders. We look forward to seeing you honored on stage during the Hometown Heroes Tour with Bret Michaels.
