The Best Internet Pranks Of Casper Planet
Casper Planet is a satirical Facebook page centered around spoofing all things Wyoming. The site is run by a guy who works out in Wyoming's oil fields and gets REALLY BORED while out there.
Let's have a look at some of the best internet pranks he has pulled. There are a lot of them, and we can't name them all. Then we will look at who this guys is.
WYOMING - Officials confirmed this week that last week’s historic wind storm deposited a significant snow drift over the summit of Devils Tower, marking the first documented instance of the world-famous monument being partially capped by wind-driven snow.
According to meteorologists, sustained gusts exceeding normal Wyoming expectations pushed snow vertically along the tower’s sheer sides, where it accumulated on the flat summit before drifting outward.
Wyoming Officials Acknowledge Existence of Prairie Snow Snake
Wyoming Conservation Services officials confirmed this week the existence of a previously undocumented reptile known as the Prairie Snow Snake, a cold-adapted species that hunts entirely beneath winter snow cover.
The snake preys on mice, voles, and other animals that tunnel under the snow, striking upward from below using vibration and heat detection. Officials describe the species as slightly venomous but not dangerous to humans unless handled or “stood on repeatedly.”
Wyoming Triangle Identified Along I-80, Officials Continue to Blame Wind
While most Americans are familiar with the Bermuda Triangle, Wyoming residents have long suspected that the state has its own version and it runs straight along I-80.
For years, officials have attributed the alarming number of semi-trucks tipping over and "taking naps" on the interstate to high winds. However, documents quietly circulating among concerned locals suggest that the real cause may be far more complicated, involving supernatural forces and possible alien technology.
Got to love this next one.
The Casper Planet fact checks itself and finds itself to be FAKE NEWS!
City Council Spends 18 Minutes Arguing Over Definition of ‘Brief Discussion’
CASPER, WY - A Casper City Council meeting ran longer than expected Tuesday night after members spent approximately 18 minutes debating whether an agenda item listed as a “brief discussion” was, in fact, brief.
Witnesses say the disagreement began when one member questioned what “brief” meant in this context, prompting responses ranging from “a couple of minutes” to “however long it takes.”
“I just want clarity,” one council member said, moments before continuing to speak for several uninterrupted minutes.
Probably one of the best was the Yellowstone Drilling Accident that caused a major eruption.
Believe it or not, a few people were fooled by this story.
Apparently Devils Tower is just a large tree trunk. Scientists have found the root system underneath.
Glendo State Park has launched Wyoming's first underwater hiking trail for scuba divers.
Move over Onion News and Babylon Bee.
Wyoming has its own satirical site called Casper Planet.
Located on Satire Street, according to the site's Facebook bio.
Some people just don't get satire and sarcasm.
Some people get REALLY MAD when they read these posts.
That's because some don't read what's in front of them on the internet; they just scan, which means they usually read it wrong, then get upset at what they misunderstood.
Most people who browse the internet never click on a story to see what it's all about.
When they do, they rarely read the entire story, or even read it carefully.
Those are the people who don't understand posts that come from Casper Planet.
Meet Justin -- the Creator of Casper Planet. (It's just him - there is no team).
Justin was good enough to come on Wyoming's morning radio talk show with host Glenn Woods (that's me) and talk about his weird and wild sense of humor, plus his mission.
You can hear the entire interview below.
Besides having fun, there is a mission in Justin's work.
He wants to teach people to think, pay attention, and research a little more.
There are just too many lazy readers out there.
This includes major news outlets that have been fooled by his posts because they did not take the time to read or research them.
Like the story of Yellowstone being drilled into to release pressure.
A major news outlet fell for that one.
Reuters News got mad when they were fooled by this story, so they had to issue a "fact check" just to save themselves some embarrassment.
His story about Devils Tower being a tree trunk got the attention of the Flat Earth Society. They believed it at first, so Justin went with it and fed him more fake information.
They got mad when they found it was just satire.
Make sure you read the story that goes with this meme here.
You might be wondering by now,
WHO IS THIS GUY?
He's an oilfield worker who spends a lot of time out in the middle of nowhere working the rigs in Wyoming.
You'll know when he's bored...
because he's posting.
NO -- he does not make any money off of this. But he's trying.
Want some SWAG to go with that Casper Planet?
I might have to get this ball cap. He has hoodies too.
