Cheyenne Frontier Days CEO Tom Hirsig and Wyoming Superintendent Of Public Instruction Jillian Balow will be among the guests on the ''Weekend in Wyoming" program on Saturday, April 10.

''Weekend In Wyoming" airs every Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on AM 650, KGAB. Tom Hirsig will join us at 11:05 to discuss all things CFD, from the COVID-19 precautions that will be in place at this year's 'Daddy of 'em all" to the night show lineup to this year's rodeo action.

Last year was the first year in the 125 year history of the world's largest outdoor rodeo that the even wasn't held, but the plan this year is for a full-capacity event with no mask requirements, although a number of precautions will be in place to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.

At 11:33 a.m., we'll have state Superintendant of Schools Jillian Balow, discussing the state of Wyoming education and especially school funding. This week, the Wyoming Legislature adjourned without agreeing on a new school funding plan. The state House and Senate couldn't agree on a funding plan, with one senator calling the Wyoming House ''big-spending liberals" on the issue. The failure to reach an agreement leaves Wyoming school funding with a roughly $300 million per year shortfall. We'll get the superintendent's take on what this means for schools in Wyoming and where we go from here.

At 12:05 p.m. we'll chat with Mike Heath of the Laramie County Master Gardener Program about an upcoming plant sale and also continuing a recent discussion about choosing and growing trees in southeast Wyoming. Mike will be calling in live from the Cheyenne Home and Garden Show, which runs today [April 9] through Sunday at the Cheyenne Ice and Events Center.

And at 12:33 we'll be chatting with Kristi Nagy of the Laramie County Extension about our local 4-H program. Topics will include upcoming 4-H events, upcoming military events, and the need for volunteers.

Of course, we'll take questions or comments for all of our guests at [307] 632-3323. Join us from 11-1 on Saturday for "Weekend In Wyoming!"
