Before you make the move, there are a few things you NEED to know! While Casper has its charm—gorgeous scenery, a strong sense of community, and plenty of sunshine—there are also some realities that might take newcomers by surprise.
In this video, I’m sharing the biggest regrets people have after moving to Casper in 2025 so you can be fully prepared. (Summer Robins).
The first thing she lists is the slow speed limit. I don't mind that, personally. I do have a problem with the constantly changing speed limit. PICK A NUMBER!
Next is the small-town vibe in a town that has nothing surrounding it. You better get used to everyone knowing everyone else.
She goes on to talk about Casper sunshine, which we get a lot of. But that does not mean that Casper is warm. This can be a cold place to live.
Housing prices are a bit on the high side for the state of Wyoming. That turns some people off.
Next is snow. Casper doesn't get a lot but when we do get it, it can be a major storm.
Car registration in Wyoming is not as affordable as some would like.
But the good news is most everything else in Casper is affordable as far as day-to-day life.
Cowboy Culture is real. There are things you will love about it but some things you will hate, as she points out.
Finally, limited flights in and out of Casper at the local airport. We recently lost our flights to Salt Lake City. You'll have to go to Denver if you want to go anywhere from the airport.
Honestly, if these are the biggest complaints we have in Casper then we have nothing important to complain about.
