Don’t Forget To Vote During FAT BEAR WEEK
Are you trying to lose weight?
Many Americans are.
BEARS ARE NOT.
Especially this time of year.
Fat Bear Week begins on October 2nd and goes to October 8th
You can pick your favorite porker, or bear, from a list of the apex predators at Katmai National Park and Preserve in Alaska.
I'm just sorry they don't have a swimsuit competition.
Another competition began on Tuesday, Sept. 24, regarding smaller bears.
The Fat Bear Jr. Contest, in which the “chubby champ” will go on to face those in the adult bracket. The voting ends Friday, Sept. 27th.
This year’s Fat Bear Week contestants include two former champs from 2022 and 2023. Park officials assure everyone that these ferocious competitors still qualify as cubs.
Have you ever wondered what the bears would think if they knew we were judging them?
Then again, being fat this time of year is an attractive thing for bears.
As you know, it's all about fastening up for the big winter sleep.
The real reason bears hibernate is to conserve energy during the winter when food is scarce.
During hibernation, bears enter a state where they don't need to eat or drink much, and they rarely urinate or defecate.
You think you have to pee when you wake up after a long sleep. Imagine what the bears blatter feels like.
The animal’s body temperature drops, heart rate slows down, and breathing becomes shallow.
When they do wake, and run off to pee for what must be a half hour of letting it go, they are thin and, as you can imagine, very hungry.
