America, we need to have a chat about our weight problem.

I saw this at a small-town Christmas event last week.

I could hear my arteries harden just looking at the sign.

Were they serious?

DEEP-FRIED OREOS, TOO?

Here is how they are made.

Deep fry a the Pop Tart in funnel cake batter.

Serve it with Frutie Pebbles Cereal sprinkled on the top.

Sound good to you?

Not to me, but to each his own.

We are the same country that invented DEEP-FRIED BUTTER!

With icing.

This sounds like something that a person might try once just out of curiosity.

But never again--we hope.

I'm sure that cardiologists are standing by as customers eat this junk, just in case.

I looked around to see if there was a booth with organic vegan food.

NOPE!

But if you want your deep-fried butter wrapped in BACON, yeah, you can have that.

A few years ago the TV show Family Guy suggested putting butter on a Poptart.

That might sound weird since it already has icing.

But original Pop Tarts did not have icing, and you can still find them without, if you search for a grocery store that carries them.

There is even a Family Guy song about putting butter on a Poptart.

Well America, I'm glad we had this chat.

Go try deep frying a buttered Pop Tart with icing and see what you think.
