This may be a new era for Wyoming power plants.

President Donald Trump will soon remove all climate rules for coal and natural gas power plants under Environmental Protection Agency rulemaking that power plants should not be regulated because they "do not contribute significantly to dangerous air pollution."

Is that a smoke stack or a steam stack?

When humans first started burning coal for power, we just threw it in the furnace. Black soot came out of the stacks.

Today, so much is filtered; it's mostly steam coming out of those things.

In a proposed rule released Wednesday, the EPA proposes to

"repeal all greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions standards for fossil fuel-fired power plants" and "a finding that GHG emissions from fossil fuel-fired power plants do not contribute significantly to dangerous air pollution."

Under new EPA rules, CO2 is no longer considered a pollutant.

CO2 was declared a pollutant under EPA rules during the Obama administration so that the EPA could regulate it.

EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin on Wednesday issued a written statement criticizing the previous administration's regulations.

"According to many, the primary purpose of these Biden-Harris administration regulations was to destroy industries that didn't align with their narrow-minded climate change zealotry," Zeldin wrote.

"Together, these rules have been criticized as being designed to regulate coal, oil and gas out of existence."

This should mean that power plants should no longer have to worry about carbon sequestration projects.

Vickie Patton, general counsel of the Environmental Defense Fund, was not happy.

Zeldin claims that the EPA and the Trump administration for the move, which she said

"is recklessly disregarding its responsibility under our nation's clean air laws to protect the American people from mercury, arsenic, and climate pollution from industrial smokestacks."
