HOLY COW: How Many Dollar Stores Does Wyoming Have?

As much as we like to talk about buying local, big corporate stores keep many across America employed and save us a lot of money.

Among those big corporate changes are THE DOLLAR STORES.

Dollar General
Family Dollar
Dollar Tree

They provide good local jobs and massive cost savings in some of our lowest-income communities.

So how many of each does Wyoming have?

There are three DOLLAR STORE SONGS in this article - ENJOY!

Dollar General had just 10 Wyoming stores in 2023.

In 2025, they listed 27 locations around the state.

If you think that's impressive, let's look at Family Dollar, with 35 locations in Wyoming.

Dollar Tree has only one location that I could find, in Casper.

Due to inflation, these stores no longer have items for just a dollar. But none of them will change their name to $5.00 store, then up it again if prices rise again. We all know them as those affordable little places that save us a truckload of money every week.

It's not clear if Wyoming will get more of these stores or lose some.

Some of these companies have grown too fast for their own good and have had to shut down some underperforming stores.

Gurnsey, Wyoming, had just opened a brand new Family Dollar, but it quickly closed. The building still stands there, and it looks new.

The older Family Dollar is still open in Gurnsey, just down the road.

Wyoming is poised for another energy boom.

That boom could bring many more people to the state to work in it.

If that happens, expect more of these stores.
