Fire UPDATE, and Thermopolis Shows Appreciation To Firefighters
The folks of Hot Spring County have made sure to express their thanks for all that firefighters have done and are doing to save their community.
Photos appeared on the Red Canyon Fire Information Facebook page, showing firefighters being fed, along with an offering of thank-you cards and gifts from residents.
Photos of a bunch of thank you cards that were delivered and distributed to firefighters in the dining tent while they were eating dinner tonight. They loved them!
Evening Operations Update:
"Thunderstorms moved across the area today as expected, producing some outflow winds, but fire behavior on the #RedCanyonFire remained minimal."
"On the east side, a few interior islands of vegetation burned. Crews in Divs. C, O, and N reported little to no heat during their patrols."
"In Div. M, firefighters worked around structures checking for any lingering heat, while Div. H showed significant improvement compared to yesterday."
"Crews there monitored dozer lines and flew the area with Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS), which detected just one small heat signature located well within the fire perimeter. Div. G also remained quiet with little heat detected."
"Air operations were limited today and focused mainly on overwatch for ground crews."
You can follow those firefighters on a Facebook page that was created to inform residents and visitors of Hot Springs, Fremont, and Washakie counties about the Red Canyon Fire, which began August 13th, eleven miles east of Thermopolis, Wyoming.
