Here’s A Great Way To Honor First Responders In Casper
It's almost been 23 years since the attack on America on September 11, 2001. It's a day I'll never forget where I was, what I was doing, and the emotions I felt. Natrona County's first responder agencies will help Casper keep the memory alive with the second annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb.
I had the great pleasure of chatting with first responders about the event.
The climb will be held on Sunday, September 8, at the Ford Wyoming Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will begin with the Casper Fire-EMS Department bell-ringing ceremony, a moment of silence, and the National Anthem, followed by the climb representing the 110 stories, or 2,200 steps, of the World Trade Center.
Casper Fire-EMS Department's Dane Anderson said they will join other Natrona County first responder agencies to remember that day.
The 23 years that have passed since September 11th, 2001 have witnessed an entire generation of responders begin and retire out of their careers. As the years pass from that infamous day, we continue to teach and instill the fundamental changes to our profession that were paid for with the lives of those heroes forever enshrined on that sacred ground. We remember the humans - the responders, the innocents killed, and all of those who have since sacrificed, as we climb.
Registration is now open online NOW. This event is free to the public and for participants 12 years of age and up.
Donations will be accepted on the day of the event, with the proceeds going to the Wyoming Heroes Fund. The Wyoming Heroes Fund provides funds and support to the families of firefighters, emergency medical services workers, and law enforcement officers in times of need following a serious injury or death of a first responder.
