
Top Contenders Shine in 4A Prelims at Wyoming Girls’ State Swim Championships
The top swimmers and divers in Class 4A performed well in the prelims at the 2025 Wyoming High School Girls’ Swimming and Diving State Championships in Laramie on Thursday. Green River’s Tavia Arnell, Jackson’s Maren Tattersall, Amaya Olivieri, and Anna Baxter, Cheyenne East’s Nzelle Ayokosok, and Evanston diver Rachel Johnson had the best time or score in the individual events. Jackson swam the fastest in two relays, while Campbell County was the top qualifier in the third relay.

Arnell is one step closer to being an eight-time state champ. She has the top time by nearly seven seconds in the 200 IM and almost five seconds in the 100-butterfly race. Tattersall finished first in the prelims in the 200 and 500 freestyle races. Olivieri was the fastest qualifier in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke races. Baxter led the 100-breaststroke, while Ayokosok had the best time in the 50-free. Johnson enjoys a four-point advantage in diving.
The Broncs have the top time entering finals in the 200-medley and 400-freestyle relays. Their time in the 400 was eight seconds faster than the next best time. The Camels edged out Green River for the top-qualifying time in the 200 freestyle relay.

No records were broken in the 4A prelims. The finals are at 10 a.m. on Friday.
Class 3A will follow with its prelims on Friday afternoon/evening, and the finals on Saturday at 10 a.m.
