29-Year-Old Washakie County Woman Still Missing

A 29-year-old Worland woman reported missing on July 22 still has not been found, according to the Washakie County Sheriff's Office.

The Wyoming Missing Persons website includes the following listing for Breanna Chelsey Mitchell:

''Missing Person, July 22, 2023, Washakie County, Wyoming: Breanna Chelsey Mitchell, age 29, was last seen in Washakie County on July 22, 2023. She is a White female, approximately 5'5", 130 pounds with green eyes and brown hair. Anyone with information or contact with Breanna is requested to contact the Washakie County Sheriff at (307) 347-2242 or the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation at (307) 777-7181.''

A call by Townsquare Media to the sheriff's office on Sept. 21 confirmed that Mitchell remains missing.

An August 11 post on the agency's Facebook page said an extensive search had been conducted at that time for the missing woman in the area where her car was last seen:

"A total of 45 Search and Rescue personnel from Washakie County (including one helicopter), Hot Springs County, Park County, Sheridan County, Johnson County, and Big Horn County arrived at the area where Breanna's vehicle was last. SAR personnel from the above-listed counties searched the area until it was dark. I am still waiting on all the above counties to send me their map data to be able to get the exact amount of square miles that were searched. I estimate SAR has searched well over 20 square miles of land in this area. Again this is just an estimation.

Unfortunately, nothing of importance was discovered."

Previous search efforts using cadaver dogs and drones had likewise failed to turn up evidence of her whereabouts.

The post said that while the searches of that area have been concluded, investigators would continue to follow up on any leads, adding "We will continue the efforts here at the office, going through all the tips, cell phone data, search warrants, and all other leads we may receive."

The post said investigators had no evidence of foul play, adding ''Remember, we have to work on evidence, not on rumors.'' Sheriff Brookwell also wrote that no further public updates would be issued in the case "unless something important happens."
