After a difficult loss last week, it doesn’t get any easier for the Laramie Plainsmen. They host the second-ranked Sheridan Broncs Friday night at Deti Stadium.

Laramie (1-6) has dropped six straight and now faces the top two ranked teams in the WyoPreps.com Coaches and Media Poll in their final two regular-season games.

The Plainsmen suffered a 36-35 loss at Cheyenne South last Friday night. After driving for a go-ahead score with 2:25 left, Laramie gave-up the winning TD and 2-point conversion with 16 seconds remaining. That has impacted Laramie’s chances of reaching the Class 4A playoffs and keeping their streak of qualifying alive, which is at six straight years.

Injuries have piled up recently, as LHS has lost starters Isaac Sell and Jackson Devine, and a few others for the remainder of the season.

Laramie will also make a change at quarterback, as sophomore Jake Vigen gets his opportunity to start for the first time in his career tonight.

Plainsmen head coach Clint Reed discussed all of this and more in the video above with KOWB's David Settle.

Sheridan (6-1) enters on a three-game win streak after their only loss of the season came at the hands of top-ranked Thunder Basin back in week three. They are led by senior running back and linebacker Garrett Coon. The two-time All-State selection is No. 2 in Class 4A in rushing at 111.7 yards per game. He has 14 touchdown runs this year and averages 7.4 yards per attempt. Coon is also No. 10 in defensive points per game in Class 4A Senior QB Jacob Boint is fifth in passing at 145.1 yards per game. The Broncs are fifth in total offense and fourth in total defense entering this game.

Laramie is led by senior Janson Adair. He’s fifth in receiving (59 ypg), ninth in scoring (7 TDs), and fourth in kick returns (25.8 per attempt) this season. Adair is third in Class 4A in defensive points at 18.1 per game. Junior Colter Nunn is right behind him in fifth on defense at 15.1 points per game. Nunn has also reached No. 10 in rushing at nearly 51 yards per game.

Sheridan has won 14 straight games against the Plainsmen. Laramie still leads the overall series 43-38, as these two prepare for the 82nd meeting.

Kick-off for tonight’s game is at 6 p.m. from Deti Stadium.

KOWB (AM 1290) will provide live coverage of the game with David Settle and Aaron Lozano calling the action. It starts at 5 p.m. and can be heard on the radio, through the KOWB app, online, or on any Amazon Alexa-enabled device or Google Home device.
