Light Wyoming Haze, Due To Canadian Fires
Do you notice a little haze in the air in the eastern part of Wyoming?
Blame CANADA!
Despite the green grass of this Wyoming spring, there are fires in Northern Canada, again.
As their wilderness burns, smoke is pouring down into the United States.
But mostly on the central and eastern side.
Wyoming is on the edge.
Wyoming is right on the edge.
That's why we are getting a little haze, at best.
Here is a link to an automated, interactive map of the smoke.
The forecast for this smoke and haze is for it to remain off to our east, for now.
High-level winds and the jet stream are pushing most of it away from us.
Local weather forecasters, east of us, are warning their audience of smoky skies and breathing problems.
An air quality map shows conditions improving across the United States on Friday as smoke from the Canadian wildfires subsides after prompting air quality alerts and advisories in several states this week.
Some areas near the border with Canada — including northern Minnesota, parts of Michigan and northern New York — were still facing unhealthy air on Friday afternoon, according to a federal measurement system called the Air Quality Index.
Other areas of the Midwest and Northeast had ratings of good, moderate or unhealthy for sensitive groups. (CBS NEWS).
A quick talk with our regional weatherman, Don Day of Day Weather, assures us that a haze is the worst we will get for quite a while.
Canadian wildfires are typical this time of year through the summer.
