When Eileen's Cookies suddenly closed in Cheyenne, Wyoming, I found myself as stunned and saddened as the rest of the community. Naturally, I was on the air the next day, tongue in cheek, offering the listeners on-air grief counseling.

But at the same time, we had to think about the family and what might have happened to cause the sudden closure of the store.

Announced on Facebook, Eileen's Colossal Cookies is shutting their doors today, August 15th at 6 pm.

Eileen's is located in the Cheyenne Plaza Shopping Center, between Murdoch's and Sportsman's Warehouse. They have been in business for 25 years and a staple in the Chyenne community. It says in their Facebook post that they are closing so soon and suddenly, "due to unforeseen circumstances."

Eileen's will be shutting their doors today at 6 pm.  They thank all their loyal customers over the years - and encourage you to hurry and get to the shop one last time before they sell out.

Mayor Marian Orr, of Cheyenne, called in with her thoughts, as well as a listener who had some interesting insight into owning a small business in Wyoming. Those calls to Wake Up Wyoming can be heard in the video, above.
