No matter where a person might live in the country, winter weather can bring it's own unique hazards.

In each region of the county people die for different reasons during winter.

Ian Livingston is a meteorologist and co-founder of USTornadoes.com, he has created a fascinating map showing weather-related death in each region of the country.

For Wyoming, the number one cause of winter death is - AVALANCHE. I'll bet you thought I was going to say car crash or exposure.

Actually it's North Texas where most people die from exposure. Go to the great lakes or the eastern parts of Florida, Georgia and the Carolina's and you'll find more people die around the water from winter rip currents.

Many of our strong snow storms in Wyoming turn wet when they push to the south east. Flooding comes in as the number one killer across the country during winter.
