Major progress has been made against the biggest fire in Wyoming this season.

From the Red Canyon Fire Information Page On Facebook:

Over the next couple of days, the Rocky Mountain Complex Incident Management Team (RMCIMT2) will begin to transition command of the #RedCanyonFire back to a local Type 4 organization, led by county and local officials.

This type of transition is a normal step in the life cycle of large wildfires and reflects the progress that has been made.

Once fire activity has slowed and suppression objectives are largely complete, the need for a large, multi-state team and national resources decreases.

Moving to a smaller, locally led team is not only a sign of confidence that the fire will remain within existing containment lines, but it is also about being fiscally responsible and returning valuable personnel and equipment to the national pool where they may be needed for other active incidents.

At this stage, much of the work shifts to patrol, mop-up, and suppression repair—ensuring fireline is secured, equipment is returned, and the landscape is stabilized.

With suppression repair nearly complete and no significant fire movement expected, local agencies such as the Hot Springs County Sheriff's Office, Hot Springs County Emergency Management, Bureau of Land Management - Wyoming,  Wyoming State Forestry Division, and local fire departments are well-positioned to carry the fire into its final phases.

The map above shows the fire is in a much smaller area than it was just a couple of days ago and is mostly contained.

Wyoming's Yard Of Nostalgic Oddities

Someone saw the joy that these old roadside statues give people and decided to collect them.

Vintage Wyoming Movie Posters

I love walking down the hallway of a modern movie theater and looking at the old posters of vintage movies.

That got me thinking about old Westerns based on Wyoming. How many of those posters are still around?

Many are, and many are for sale online, if you want to decorate your home, or even home theater, with classic and mostly forgotten movie posters.

Most of these films were made before the era of television. Hollywood was cranking out these things as fast as they could.

The plots, the scrips, the acting, directing, and editing were SO BAD, they were good.
