We are closing in at that time of year when folks will want to drive the Wyoming backcountry, mostly for sport.

Yeah, spring is almost here.

So let's take a look at a few of the best vehicles for backcountry road tripping in the cowboy state.

I'm not talking side-by-sides or dirtbikes.

Let's look at cars and trucks.

Broncos have always been good.

From the old classic to the new ones with the "GOAT MODE." (Goes Over All Terrain).

They can be a bit pricey.

But there is no denying that they will do the job.

Like the Bronco, Jeeps have always been good in the back country.

They are not ideal for highway driving but Jeeps know how to crawl.

More modern jeeps can be four-door or maybe even four-door with a pickup bed in the back.

They have much better suspension and traction control.

But there is nothing like the basic old boxy two-door jeep for crawling over the worst that Wyoming has to offer.

Toyota makes a good line of vehicles that can handle the Wyoming backcountry.

Below is a video of Toyota back country vehicles on the Morrison Jeep Trail in Wyoming.

If you take that trail, be careful.

This is where the state moves all the bad bears to.

There are some great pickup trucks that fit the bill.

They are heavy and can haul a lot, and like their off-road vehicle brothers, they can crawl over just about anything.

Watch in the video below as a Takoma takes on a climb that looks impossible.

It would be hard enough to handle this on your feet.

The Ford Raptor is a favorite of off-road enthusiasts in Wyoming.

This new truck is pricey, which would make some hesitant to take it anywhere that might break it.

But the Raptor doesn't break easy.

It loves mud.

Spring and warmer weather is coming to Wyoming, soon.

Let's get out there.
