You have a chance to see the biggest bison roundup in the nation, at Custer State Park in western South Dakota.

Watch cowboys and cowgirls as they round up and drive the herd of approximately 1,300 bison.

This yearly roundup is a spectacular sight to see and a critical management tool in maintaining a strong and healthy herd.

Events start this weekend with the 31st Annual Arts Festival (Sept. 26 – Sept 28) over Buffalo Roundup weekend!

The Buffalo Roundup will begin at 9:30 a.m. MT on September 27, with the parking lots opening at 6:15 a.m.

Be sure to arrive early if you want to pick your spot.

Guests must stay in the viewing areas until the herd is safely in the corrals, generally around noon. Breakfast is available at 6:15 a.m. in both viewing areas.

Lunch is served at the corrals once the bison are rounded up. There is a fee for both meals.

This year, the festival will have 170+ vendors, a delicious food tent, and live music.

This live event is one people have waited years to see in person! Visitors from around the globe journey to see the park herd rounded up into the corrals for working and sorting in preparation for the annual live animal auction on November 2.

Can't be there in person?

Not to worry.
