Severe Wyoming Winds Cause Speeding Tickets
The following story is completely FAKE! It is meant as SATIRE! If you don't have a sense of humor, move on.
Shelly saw the cop car behind her and knew she was in trouble even before he turned on his flashy, flashy lights.
She had trouble slowing down, but that was not her fault.
Finally, on the shoulder of the road she waited until the cop arrived by her window to roll it down.
Her vehicle rocked in the wind.
She watched the officer's hat blow off his head and tumble down the road at 60mph. He watched it fly away in disgust and did not attempt to go after it. The chase would have been pointless.
Shelly rolled down her window and everything she had inside the vehicle began blowing around like there was a tornado inside.
The officer said something, but the Wyoming wind took his voice away. She tried to answer but he could not hear her.
The officer leaned in and yelled, "Do you know how fast you were going?"
"I had my speedometer set at 80 miles per hour," she yelled back. "But that tailwind must have been over 100."
She was correct. In this part of Interstate 25 in an area with some tight hills and buttes, the wind was gusting at over 100 miles per hour.
She had been going the speed limit, until that wind got behind her and gave her a push.
"On the bright side," she yelled, "I'm getting great gas mileage."
The officer smiled at her and yelled a suggestion.
"Set your cruise control at 60 and see if that keeps you at 80."
"Or maybe I can just put it in neutral and see how fast it blows me down the road, she yelled."
"It's worth a try," he laughed.
