Jim Good was a famous Wyoming pilot of a T-6 Wildcat, an airplane that used to race at the Reno Air Races.

Good captured one of his most notable career victories by winning 1st Place in the T-6 Class Silver race piloting the Wyoming Wildcatter. In the 2007 Reno Air Races, he secured a 6th-place finish in the T-6 Gold race with an official speed of 220.106 mph. In the 2008 Reno Air Races, Good raced his way onto the podium again, earning a 3rd-place finish in the T-6 Class Silver race.

After Jim Good's passing, the plane is still in Casper, Wyoming, but Virgil Tatman now owns it and has decided to reenter it in the races, now held in Roswell, New Mexico.

The numbers are in, and on Sunday, September 20, 2026, Virgin brought the T-6 in for a 6th-place finish.

Vergil did good and Wyoming's T-6 is BACK.

Also known as the "Pilot's Class," the T-6 division features historic WWII-era North American T-6 Texan, SNJ, and Harvard trainers. Because the aircraft have matched performance capabilities and speeds reaching up to 230 mph, the races rely heavily on strategic line selection and pilot skill rather than engine modifications.
