Child Pornography

Nielsen already served ten years in prison the first time he was convicted of possessing child pornography. Now he faces another decade behind bars.

The case started in December 2021 when the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation received a lead from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Terry Gene Patch and Rily Shawn Ralls were named together in the indictment handed up by the federal grand jury on Sept. 20.

James Martin remains in jail on a $500,000 cash bond.

"[Salvador Salas Jr.] is one more child predator off the streets and he will never be able to hurt another child again."

Production of child pornography is punishable by 15 years to 30 years imprisonment. Judge Scott Skavdahl sentenced Salas to the maximum terms on each count.

Yesterday was the second and final day of a 12-person jury trial for a man charged with sexual abuse of a minor in the second and third degree, and exploitation.

The possession of child pornography charge is punishable by up to 20 years imprisonment, and the other penalties in the receipt count.

The government regards child pornography as a crime of violence because it involves brutal assaults on very young children who cannot give consent to sexual activity.

Chief U.S. District Judge Scott Skavdahl scheduled Salas' sentencing for April 18.
