Univ. of Wyoming Professor to Give Talk on Women’s Activism
A University of Wyoming professor who has published extensively on the visual culture of women’s activism worldwide will be speaking on Thursday, December 2, at the University.
Colleen Denney, a professor of art history, gender, and women’s studies, will be discussing her latest book, titled “The Suffrage Photography of Lena Connell: Creating a Cult of Great Women Leaders in Britain, 1908-1914.”
Her talk, which is free and open to the public, will be at 4 pm in Room 506 of Coe Library. The event also will be live-streamed on Zoom. To attend the event via Zoom, register at www.uwyo.edu/libraries.

Denney has published comprehensively on portraits of women in Victorian and contemporary culture. She has been researching British women in the suffrage movement since 2005. Her new book from McFarland & Co. Inc., Publishers examines the career of Connell, a photographer, and Edwardian suffragist.
