Warrant Scam Resurfacing in Cheyenne/Laramie County

The Cheyenne Police Department and Laramie County Sheriff's Office are warning residents not to fall for a warrant scam that's making the rounds again.

The agencies in separate Facebook posts this week said they have received numerous reports about scammers identifying themselves as law enforcement officers, then telling people they have a warrant and need to provide payment to avoid arrest.

Police say the scammers are using various spoofing methods to hide their actual phone numbers and make it look as if the calls are coming from local law enforcement, but it's a trick.

They say local law enforcement will never call you to tell you that you have a warrant or ask for money over the phone.
