WATCH: Wyoming Comedian On Wyoming Sterotypes
If you were not from Wyoming but you were trying to picture what someone from Wyoming is like, what images would come to mind?
Dominic Syracuse is a stand-up comedian from Wyoming.
He decided to list what people think compared to the realities.
But, as you'll see in the video below, he does it while standing in a room filled with everything that builds on those stereotypes.
He is a comedian after all, so he can't do anything seriously.
You know like they think we are all outdoorsy and there's like wildlife around us all the time.
He says while standing in a room full of taxidermied wildlife.
Do I look outdoorsy to you?
He says as he bumps into a stuffed wolf.
OH, excuse me.
Some stereotypes are true about Wyomingites.
But there are plenty of us who live in larger towns; we don't have any cities here, and don't get outside all that much.
Some of us are just as addicted to our computers and other modern toys as city folk are.
Not everybody wears cowboy hats.
Not everybody wears boots.
Not everybody knows how to ride a horse.
We don't all drive pickup trucks and Jeeps.
Believe it or not, not everybody in Wyoming owns a gun. Yeah, there are a few weirdoes out there who don't. We can't figure them out.
OH - and NO, we do not speak with a southern accent. It's strange to hear someone try to mimic what people from Wyoming sound like, then they go all southern with their dialect. We sound BORING.
