Have you ever heard of Slater, Wyoming?

Better look into it because THEY HAVE PIE!

After looking it up I'm still not sure it's a real place, but it is.

It was once a little community, shops, post office, and more, on the plateau above Chugwater, Wyoming.

Today Slater is a census-designated place (CDP) in Platte County, Wyoming, United States. They were estimated to have a population of 54 back in 2022.

It all started when I received this note:

Hi Glenn!

There's an event coming up at Slater that I thought you might be interested in.

It's Saturday the 19th at 5pm- less than 2 weeks away.

It's our annual Soup & Pie Bingo night, which is always a really fun time!

HOLD ON!

Did she mention PIE?

The food is all provided by the Slater Women's Club, and it's all homemade.

Homemade pie made by the Women's Club?

I'm SO IN on this.

Watch this paraglider fly from Slader Wyoming to Chimney Rock.

You can see Chimney Rock from Interstate 25.

It's all for a good cause.

It helps this little town to take care of a few local needs.

We use the event to raise funds for the upkeep of the historic schoolhouse and hall.  Bingo cards are $1 each (which goes to the grand prize winner of the bingo), but people can donate whatever they choose for the hall.

We'd love if you were able to make it, and/or if you'd like to tell locals about it via your show.  (Kathryn Stevens).

I've been up there a few times but have yet to stop by the old town of Slater location.

This will be a good opportunity.

Come join me.  You'll love the view from up there.

AND THEY HAVE PIE!

Chili & Pie Eating Contest, Chugwater Chili Festival 2024

Laugh at the messy faces of the pie-eating contest.

Be shocked at the carnage of the hot chili pepper eating contest.

It's the annual Chugwater Chili Festival in Wyoming and this year was no disappointment.

Some of the best moments in these epic battles were captured for your enjoyment.
