It was a little more than a year ago when the University of Wyoming was under attack.

Its campaign slogan "The World Needs More Cowboys" was deemed by a professor to be offensive because "the word ‘cowboy’ invokes a white, macho, male, able-bodied, heterosexual, U.S.-born person."

The University of Wyoming stood it's ground (with the support of pretty much the entire state) and the result was an increase in almost $40,000 in revenue compared to the previous year.

As our football season kicks off (with an amazing win I might add) things have been pretty calm...but down South trouble is brewing, and it may be headed our way.

I came across an article written last week that shared that The University of Denver mascot, the pioneer, is under attack. Here is a bit of what the article shared.

Earnest House is the director of the Keystone Policy Center and believes celebrating pioneers is insensitive. “We’re talking about federal policies that were created, the Homestead Act, to forcibly remove Native Americans off of our land,”

It gets even better with this quote from DU Law Student Emily Hines "The pioneer is a murderer and it’s really offensive."

Yeah...No.

I am personally going to be waiting to see how this all turns out.

If DU decides to change their Pioneer mascot it may set in motion more criticism for our Cowboys.

Thankfully if last year is anything to go by, the University of Wyoming will most likely have no problem sticking to their guns.
