Wyoming Democrat Party Post Missinformation

This is what the Wyoming Democrat party posted on Facebook about the state's representative in the U.S. House, Harriet Hageman.

Wyo Democrats base this on a Newsweek article that they reference at this link.

But the Newsweek story is full of inaccuracies as is what the Wyoming Democrat party is saying about it.

Here is the post of the Wyoming Democratic Party put on Facebook.

One amendment introduced by Representative Pramila Jayapal, the Democrat from Washington state, sought to make clear Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) cannot detain or deport U.S. citizens under any circumstances. GOP lawmakers killed that amendment. (Newsweek).

But the amendment was not killed, so that ICE would be allowed to deport U.S. citizens.

It was killed because it had nothing to do with what the bill is about.

ICE is deporting non-citizens who have entered the country illegally or, if they are in the country under a visa, have to leave because the visa has expired or because they have broken the agreement under which the visa was issued.

ICE is NOT rounding up U.S. citizens and deporting them.

They do not have any plans to do so.

The Newsweek article also inaccurately mentions a Democrat concern without any correction to the narrative.

Democrats have also raised concerns over the removal of American children that were sent to Honduras with their mothers.

In this case, there was a mother who was in America country illegally. She had a baby while she was here. She was being deported. The baby could have stayed with the father in America, but the mother requested that the child go with her, back home to Honduras.
