WATCH: Hot Dust Devil Swarms Wyoming Fire Fighters
Here is something you don’t see every day.
Watch the video below, and you'll see what looks like a twister jump up out of the Red Canyon fire and attack firefighters.
It is almost as if fires hate firegetters. But that's okay because the feeling is mutual.
Firefighters cover their faces and walk through the twister.
I was hoping that one of them would raise a middle finger to the twister, but none of them did, though I'm sure they were thinking it.
Watch the video below to see it happen.
Wildfire firefighting can be a very dangerous job - thank you to all firefighting resources, firefighters, and the landowners and communities who have supported fire suppression efforts in Wyoming. Below is a video of the Red Canyon fire. The fire is over 110,000 acres in size and 28% contained. Thanks to the Hotshot Wake Up for sharing. (Wyoming State Forestry Division)
This fire is a monster and has grown to over 114,000 acres and is 28% contained as of Wednesday morning.
Temperatures will hit 100+ degrees today with critically low humidity.
Firefighters will ignite controlled blazes to deny fuel to the oncoming blaze.
What is burning is mostly grasslands and sage. There is very little timber in the area.
But the blaze is moving fast and is in such rugged terrain it is hard to battle.
