It's that time of year again. The weather is nice, and folks want to travel across Wyoming. What a perfect time to leap full force into road repair and construction.

Major road construction projects span across Wyoming this 2026 construction season. For real-time updates on active work zones, lane closures, and travel impacts, check the interactive map on the Wyoming 511 Road & Travel Information.

Key active projects across the state include:

Teton Pass (WY 22): Multiple safety and patching projects are underway in Teton County. A major pavement patching project—focusing on milling and asphalt work—will be active through October 31, 2026. For corridor updates, visit the WY 22 Corridor Project website.

U.S. Highway 20 / 26 (Central WY): A 46.8-mile stretch between Waltman and Shoshoni is undergoing asphalt pavement and spot patching, running through August 31, 2026.

Cheyenne Local Projects: Work is ongoing at several locations in the capital, including ADA upgrades, signal replacements, and concrete slab repairs along College Drive and the I-25 Missile Drive northbound on-ramp.

Wyoming is struggling to keep up with road costs. Wyoming is a large state in land mass but low in population. That means tax dollars for roads are hard to come by.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) annual funding shortfall is roughly between $500 million and $600 million. The budget for WYDOT is flat, but the cost of materials is up 50% since 2022.

Chugwater's Hysterical Pie Eating Contest.

One of Wyoming's smallest towns added a new event. A PIE EATING CONTEST.

The rules are simple:

Not hands allowed.

Eat as much as you can before time is up.

The results are hysterical.
