The money that the Federal Government handed out to schools to help heal the problems created by the covid shutdowns did more harm than good, according to the Wyoming Superintendent Of Public Instruction.

States are in even more trouble now that this federal covid money is running out.

None of this did any good. None of this money did any good at reducing damage caused by keeping kids home.

Now that the money is running out the schools have to figure out what to do with these programs that were supposed to be temporary.

A lot of people will have to be let go.

In the interview, Degenfelder pointed out that many states are overly reliant on these funds and other states are rushing to spend the money before the deadline.

What this shows us is that we cannot, should not, rely on the federal government to solve out problems. (Degenfelder).

She went on to explain how Wyoming made sure that this money was for one-time expenditures and that Wyoming's schools did not become reliant on that federal money.

Degenfelder argues that local planning is a better path.

She went on to argue that Vice President Harris's idea to spend more on education does not work. It's not a money problem. It only overblows the central administration and is rarely spent in the classroom.
