Wyoming Secretly Hope Greenland Becomes A State
Why would President Trump want Greenland?
There are many reasons.
For us in Wyoming, it would be a very good thing.
Allow me to explain.
Like Wyoming, Greenland is a large area with not much on it.
A couple of thousand years ago it was mostly green, and so the Vikings made their home there. Hence the name.
But as it became more ice-encroached, the Vikings split.
Today Greenland is considered the largest island in the world and home to around 57,000 people.
It's a semi-autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark, with its own elected government.
Its unique location between the U.S., Russia, and Europe makes it strategic for both economic and defense purposes.
It is also the location of the northernmost U.S. military base.
Greenland has an abundance of rare earth elements, natural gas, and petroleum, to name a few natural resources.
Currently, Wyoming is America's least populated state, despite the amount of land the state has.
Being the least populated state is a lot of pressure.
At last count, Wyoming's population was 587,618, and growing at a snail's pace.
If Greenland became a state, then Wyoming would no longer be at the bottom when it comes to the population per acre.
Greenland would have only one member in the U.S. House of Representatives, which means they would join the few other states with only one representative. Alaska, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, and Delaware.
Why come to Wyoming to see geothermal activity? Greenland has that and active volcanism going on right now. It could be the new Yellowstone.
Wyoming wants as little attention as possible. We like it that way.
Making Greenland another state would certainly help take eyes off of us.
