In the winter there is the Snowy Range Ski Area is nestled within the scenic Medicine Bow National Forest in southeast Wyoming.

Sugar Loaf Campground is one of the highest-elevation campgrounds in the United States at just over ten thousand feet. You might find show up there even in the middle of summer.
Sugar Loaf is a rustic, picturesque campground where every site has delightful views of the Snowy Range. 22-foot max trailer length. Tight roads and small campsites. Tents must be set up on tent pads and are not permitted outside the developed pad.
One of the first scenic byways designated on National Forests, this 29-mile stretch of paved road crosses through spectacular alpine habitats.
The top of this road is closed during winter.
The drive rises from sagebrush and lodgepole pine forests below and offers views of rugged peaks reaching over 12,000 feet in elevation, crystal clear lakes, and gorgeous displays of native wildflowers in the spruce-fir forests and alpine areas of the high country.
Make sure you visit Laramie on the east side of the snowy range and bathe in the hot spring of Saratoga on the other side.
