At least $25,000 worth of property has been stolen from oil well sites in eastern Laramie County since the first of the year, according to the sheriff’s office.

Agency spokesman Brandon Warner says numerous sites have had tools and copper wire taken.

"During one of the thefts, three males abandoned a silver 2005 Subaru Legacy after crashing the vehicle while fleeing the scene," said Warner.

Anyone with information about the larcenies is asked to call Crime Stoppers Silent Witness at (307) 638-TIPS. Callers will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
