Casper Police, Fire-EMS Conduct 9-11 Ceremony on Wednesday
The Casper Police and Fire-EMS departments will conduct a 9-11 remembrance ceremony at the Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery in Evansville at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
The ceremony will feature Casper Police Chief Keith McPheeters and Fire Chief Tom Solberg reading the names of the officers and firefighters who died in the line of duty in the past year, Solberg said.
He will be the master of ceremonies at the cemetery chapel at 80 Veterans Road, which continues north from Curtis Street in Evansville.
The Sept. 11, 2001, attacks were the work of 19 members of al-Qaida, headed by the late Osama bin Laden, who hijacked four passenger jetliners.
Two planes hit the New York World Trade Center, one hit the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and the fourth landed in a field in western Pennsylvania when passengers overpowered the hijackers of that plane.
